Starting 2011 off with a Budget

We have a family of four with one on the way. I have no idea what our monthly grocery bill should be so I am going to guess and then reevaluate next month. We are starting off with a $300 budget. I am hoping this is going to be way to much; especially with my couponing helping out.
I am most likely not going to do the best job of documenting what I buy, when I buy it. Here is the what we have purchased from January 1st to January 11th.

Both RiteAid totals have SCR for $7.99 each. I'll add that money back into my budget when I get it. Hopefully, I'll be able to grow our storage and buy our weekly meal necessities with the $300 this month. I will also be including any eating out into this budget.
So the total for this post is $93.97. Not too bad!

Here's to being accountable and hopefully adding to our savings.

Keeping on Track

Yes, I know I have a few blogs that I rarely update or contribute to, but this one is going to be different!!
Those of you who know me have realized over the past few months that I have gone couponing crazy!! Well, Eric thinks so. I follow so many deal blogs and I get so wrapped up in getting a good deal that I sometimes forget about keeping track of how much I spend. One blog I follow is Joy's Dumb Deals. She is a lady that I have enjoyed reading and learning from for quite a few months. Her blog is pretty much a detailed account of what she bought, how much she spent, and how much she has left over. I LOVE IT!!! She is from my area and I know we shop at many of the same stores, so half the time I just copy the deals she got. Well, I went to Smith's today to get some good deals that Joy and many others wrote about. There were a few customer who had questions and had asked an employee and were waiting around for the answers. One lady asked if I had the coupons for some pasta that I was buying and which blogs I follow. I told her that I follow quite a few. We talked for a minute and something she said reminded me of a post Joy had made earlier about Smiths. Well, low and behold she is Joy!!!! I actually met a blogger who I have enjoyed reading for months! I just think it is crazy! She probably thinks I am nuts, but she has really helped me get quite a few good deals! Anyway, she is the nicest lady with very cute kids, and I am just glad I actually ran into her at the grocery store.
Okay, enough about my obsessions. Because I admire Joy and her organization, I am going to start a blog documenting my shopping outings. This is really for my own records, but if you get something out of it also, well yeah!
Let the shopping fun begin!
